Manila, April 28 -- The Philippine Army's 2nd Infantry Division (ID) on Tuesday called on the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army (CPP-NPA) to release a Filipino-American currently in their custody, so she could reunite with her family in the United States.

"We urge the CPP-NPA to release Cristina Pasion and allow her to return safely to her family. No cause should come at the cost of a person's life," 2nd ID spokesperson Col. Michael Aquino said in a statement forwarded to reporters.

Aquino made this call after AnakBayan-USA confirmed that two American nationals-Lyle Prijoles and Kai Dana-Rene Sorem-were among the 19 persons killed during an encounter in Toboso, Negros Occidental, last April 19.
