Manila, Sept. 22 -- Deputy Speaker Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said two main proposals, covering new power plants and retroactive price caps, are being pushed as immediate and long-term solutions to address the frequent power outages across the Visayas.

In a Facebook post Monday night, Benitez, who represents the Lone District of Bacolod City, said these were discussed during a joint briefing conducted by the House committees on energy, Visayas Development, and legislative franchises earlier in the day.

"We held a joint briefing to seek an explanation regarding the frequent power outages across the Visayas region from the Department of Energy and its attached agencies. We focused on two main proposals," he added.
