Manila, Sept. 27 -- Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief Gen. Antonio Nafarrete has called for the sustained development of Lumbia Air Base in Cagayan de Oro City, emphasizing that improvements to the facility must translate into greater operational capability for the military.

During his visit to the base on Saturday, Nafarrete highlighted the relocation and integration of the Philippine Air Force's 15th Strike Wing and 590th Air Base Group as part of Lumbia's continuing development.

"That is how I want us to look at Lumbia - not simply in terms of what has been constructed, but in terms of what the base allows our forces to do," Nafarrete said in a statement.
