Manila, June 17 -- Lanao del Sur 1st District Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong has filed House Bill (HB) 9887, seeking a PHP15 billion supplemental appropriation for Fiscal Year 2026 to support urgent relief, recovery, rehabilitation, repair, and reconstruction efforts in communities devastated by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Southern Mindanao on June 8.

The bill, filed on Tuesday, will augment the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund to address the widespread destruction across Regions 11 (Davao) and 12 (Soccsksargen), including severe damage to homes, schools, hospitals, roads, bridges, irrigation systems, power facilities, ports, airports, and other critical infrastructure.
