Manila, June 25 -- More than 4 million trees were planted nationwide on Thursday as the country celebrates the Philippine Arbor Day, surpassing the initial target by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) of 3 million trees.

At the tree planting event in Manila, Environment Secretary Juan Miguel Cuna said the nationwide tree-planting effort drew participation from more than 1,600 local government units (LGUs), highlighting the growing support for environmental protection and climate action.
