23K family food packs now in Batanes as DSWD braces for Inday
Manila, July 8 -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Wednesday assured the public that it is ready to send augmentation assistance to localities that will be affected by Super Typhoon Inday (international name: Bavi).
"Nakahanda tayo na umalalay sa mga local government units (LGUs) na maaring maapektuhan nitong si Bagyong Inday. Sa katunayan mayroong tayong higit 4.7 million family food packs (FFPs) yung naka-prepositioned sa iba't ibang bahagi ng ating bansa (We are ready to assist LGUs that may be affected by Inday. In fact, we have 4.7 million FFPs prepositioned in various parts of the country)," Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao of the DSWD's Disaster Response Management Group said in a radio interview.
