BACARRA, June 10 -- Power consumers in Bacarra and neighboring Vintar can expect a more stable electricity supply after the energization of a 20-megavolt-amperes (MVA) substation on Wednesday, ending frequent voltage fluctuations in the area.

Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative (INEC) General Manager Cipriano "Perry" Martinez III said the project, located in Sitio Tamucalao, Barangay Buyon, is part of the rebuilding of INEC's infrastructure to ensure stable power supply.

Originally proposed as a 10-MVA substation, the project was upgraded to 20 MVA based on updated load forecasts, economic evaluation, and noticeable demand increases in Bacarra, Vintar, three northern barangays of Laoag City (Barit, Vira, Salet Bulangon), and Pasuquin. Th...
