2 former LTO chiefs suspended over P13.3-B computer fees
Manila, Aug. 18 -- Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla on Tuesday announced the preventive suspension of former Land Transportation Office (LTO) chiefs Vigor Mendoza II and Teofilo Guadiz III over the continued use of the Stradcom-operated LTO information technology (IT) system that resulted in an additional PHP13.3 billion in computer fees.
In a statement, Remulla released the order on Monday, placing the two transport officials under preventive suspension "without pay for six months or during the pendency of the administrative case against them."
Mendoza is the incumbent chairperson of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), while Guadiz is currently chairperson of the Office of Transportation Cooperatives (OTC)...
