COTABATO CITY, June 15 -- Police in Pigcawayan, Cotabato arrested two men on a cargo truck who evaded a checkpoint and seized from them PHP2.6 million in contraband on Sunday afternoon.

In a report Monday, Police Regional Office-Soccsksargen (PRO-12) Director Brig. Gen. Alan Manibog said alert officers noticed that the driver and his helper were restless and uneasy during a routine checkpoint operation in Barangay South Manuangan.

"After seeing what appeared to be boxes of cigarettes inside the vehicle, the police ordered the driver to pull over for further inspection," Manibog said.

However, instead of complying with the lawful order, the truck driver, identified as "Gadol," sped away, prompting the police to pursue.
