India, April 24 -- The Promotion and Regulation OF ONLINE GAMING ACT, 2025 ("PROG Act") received the assent of the President on the 22nd August, 2025, a law aimed to promote and regulate the online gaming sector and prohibit the online money games in India. The PROG act looks at creating individuals, from the adverse social, economic, psychological and privacy-related impacts of such games; and to ensure the responsible use of digital technologies. The PROG Act provides provision for the constituting of an Authority to be called the Online Gaming Authority of India.
