India, Sept. 6 -- WhatsApp is making a significant move towards diversifying its conversational AI capabilities beyond Meta AI, with the introduction of third-party AI agents and custom bots for Android. The widely used messaging service is testing integration with external third-party agents and specialised bots that can be connected directly to the app, according to independent feature tracker WABetaInfo.

The feature was spotted in WhatsApp beta for Android 2.26.35.3 and lets users access dedicated chat interfaces for custom AI helpers and other automated services. This means users can interact with compatible tools without repeatedly switching to external websites or standalone apps.
