India, Aug. 10 -- The PlayStation 5 is heading into an important stretch of its life. Over the past few years, the gap between console and PC gaming has narrowed, with several major PlayStation games eventually making the jump to PC. That made the traditional idea of a console exclusive less clear than it once was.

Sony now appears ready to shift the balance again.

In May 2026, the company announced that future single-player games will be exclusive to its console. For PS5 players, that could make upcoming games a bigger reason to own the hardware. For PC gamers, meanwhile, waiting for a PlayStation release may no longer be a strategy they can count on.
