India, Oct. 28 -- Minecraft is heading into its final 2026 game drop with a serious cold snap. Mojang has been testing Ice Caves, a frosty new zombie variant and new building blocks in Java snapshots and Bedrock previews. It is not all snow and scenery, either. Between fragile ground and mobs that can freeze you mid-fight, survival players should check their gear before heading underground.

The new Ice Cave biome generates beneath colder areas of the Overworld. Packed Ice, Calcite, glowing Ice Crystals, and towering icicles give these caverns a distinctive look.
