India, Oct. 7 -- Minecraft 26.4 Snapshot 3 gives Java Edition players their first proper hands-on look at the game's frosty next drop, and the new Ice Caves biome is more than a visual change. It introduces fresh hazards, a new hostile mob, and a freezing mechanic that could make cold-region exploration more dangerous.

Ice Caves generate beneath colder Overworld biomes and are built mainly from Packed Ice and Calcite. Icicles hang from the ceiling, larger formations can rise from the floor, and glowing Ice Crystals add natural light. Ores still generate inside pockets of Stone and Deepslate, so the biome remains useful for mining rather than functioning only as scenery.
