India, Oct. 6 -- Smartphone chips are no longer just about getting faster, and AI is becoming a much bigger part of the phone experience. MediaTek's new Dimensity 9600 Pro takes this a step further with a 2nm design, a new CPU setup and hardware focused on agentic AI. Unveiled at MediaTek Tech Day, the chip also brings upgrades for gaming, cameras and everyday performance, with the first smartphones using it expected to arrive this quarter.

Performance gets a serious push with the Dimensity 9600 Pro's 2+3+3 All Big Core CPU setup. It combines two C2-Ultra cores clocked up to 4.55GHz with six C2-Pro cores, three reaching 4.35GHz and three running at 3.1GHz.
