Apple M6 may skip Pro and Max chips as M7 takes priority
India, July 17 -- Apple's M6 could bring faster memory, stronger graphics, and better on-device artificial intelligence performance later in 2026. Yet the more important change may be Apple's reported decision to release only the standard chip and move its professional Macs directly to the M7 generation.
According to Bloomberg, Apple has tested the M6 in an entry-level MacBook Pro and does not currently plan M6 Pro or M6 Max versions. Apple has not confirmed the processors, specifications, or release schedule.
The change would make the M6 the first Apple Silicon generation since 2020 without Pro and Max models. It could also create a Mac lineup in which the newest chip is not the fastest option.
