India, Aug. 2 -- Most iPhone 18 Pro price hike reports mention rising costs, but very few explain the actual dollar amount behind Apple's higher production costs. According to Taiwanese outlet Ctee, cited by leaker Jukanlosreve and later reported by TechRadar and Tom's Guide, the estimated cost of Apple's A20 Pro chip has reportedly increased from around $50 to $85 as TSMC shifts to its 2nm process.

According to PhoneArena, TSMC's reported 2nm wafer pricing has increased from around $20,000 to nearly $30,000 per wafer, with each wafer producing roughly 300-400 chips.

That single manufacturing change is believed to be one of the biggest reasons Apple's A20 Pro chip is becoming significantly more expensive this generation.
