India, Sept. 25 -- Perplexity is bringing its Portable Computer agent to PCs powered by AMD Ryzen AI Max processors, giving users a way to run selected AI workloads locally instead of sending every task to the cloud. The approach combines local inference, file access, application controls, and cloud-based models in one workflow.

The move highlights a practical shift in desktop AI: the PC is becoming part of the computing layer for AI agents, rather than simply acting as a window into a remote service.

Perplexity Portable supports Ryzen AI Max Series systems, including the Ryzen AI Halo developer platform. A supported PC needs at least 24 GB of GPU-accessible memory, while the initial installation requires about 20 GB of storage.
