Punjab, Sept. 28 -- The Supreme Court declined to stay the government's decision to charge a merchant discount rate on UPI payments above Rs 2,000, and asked the Centre to file an affidavit explaining the basis for it. The charge takes effect on 15 October.
What is actually being charged
The fee is paid by the merchant, not by you. Whether it reaches you depends on whether merchants absorb it or price it in - and on Rs 2,000-plus transactions, most will price it in.
