Punjab, Oct. 15 -- Two IPO-bound companies pulled Rs 2,506 crore from anchor investors in two days - Zetwerk Rs 2,251 crore and Tonbo Imaging Rs 255 crore - while a SaaS startup that had just raised 20 million dollars was acquired outright.

The anchor books

Zetwerk raised Rs 2,251 crore from anchor investors ahead of its IPO. Tonbo Imaging, which makes imaging and sighting systems for defence, took Rs 255 crore on Thursday.

Anchor allocations are the real test of an IPO, not the retail subscription number that gets reported later. Institutions commit before the price is public and cannot exit on listing day. A full anchor book means the people who do the work on the numbers are satisfied with them.
