Punjab, Oct. 9 -- The Sensex rose 879.09 points on Friday, or 1.23 per cent, to close at 72,472.33, recovering most of Thursday's 1,045-point fall. The Nifty added 288.65 points, or 1.3 per cent, to 22,520.45.

Brent had gone above 104 dollars on Thursday, and that single number had been doing most of the damage to Indian equities all week.
Bond yields also cooled, which matters because they had been sitting near a three-year high after the RBI's hawkish turn on Tuesday.
