Punjab, Sept. 9 -- Red remains iconic in Indian weddings, but the 2026 season has made room for softer and more experimental shades: rose gold, ivory, pistachio green and dusty pastels, with palettes moving toward sage green, peach and icy blue.

What is driving it

Two things. Destination and daytime weddings suit lighter palettes - a deep red that photographs beautifully in a banquet hall can read heavy against a beach or a garden at midday. And the multi-event structure of the modern Indian wedding means a bride needs several looks, which makes committing every one of them to red impractical.

What has not changed
