Punjab, Sept. 28 -- The interesting music in India this month is not coming from film soundtracks. Indian Ocean are back with new work, alongside releases from Kavya, Dikshant and Rudy - and a small run of gigs that says something about where the audience is.

New tracks this month include "Aane De", a downtempo song written by composer Jose Neil Gomes for singer-songwriter Kaprila, and "Milta Nahi Hai", a rock track from Janisht Joshi and Bharg.
Indian Ocean releasing alongside artists thirty years younger is the detail worth pausing on. The band has outlasted three complete turnovers of the Indian music industry's distribution model - cassettes, CDs, and now streaming - without ever having had a film hit carry them.
