Punjab, Sept. 10 -- Apple did something unusual on September 9. It launched three premium phones and no ordinary one. The standard iPhone 18 has been pushed to spring 2027, leaving the autumn to the iPhone 18 Pro, the Pro Max and the Rs 1,99,000-and-up foldable Duo.
For most markets that is a scheduling decision. For India it is a miscalculation.
India does not buy the Pro
The Indian iPhone market has never been driven by the Pro line. It is driven by the standard model, and even more by the previous generation once its price falls after a new launch. That is the phone that moves through Indian retail, on EMI, in the festive quarter.
