Punjab, Sept. 10 -- Apple announced the iPhone Duo at its "Surprise and shine" event on September 9, ending years of speculation about whether the company would build a foldable phone at all. It starts at $1,999.
The name settles a long-running guessing game. Reporting had been split between "iPhone Fold" and "iPhone Ultra", with Apple employees reportedly using the latter internally. The shipping product is the Duo.
What Apple actually built
The Duo is a book-style fold in what Apple describes as a passport format: a 5.5-inch cover display for one-handed use, opening to a 7.8-inch inner display at roughly a 4:3 ratio.
