Punjab, Sept. 22 -- The low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is expected to deepen into a deep depression today and reach the coast near north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha by the morning of 23 September. The IMD has warned of isolated extremely heavy rainfall.

What a deep depression is, and is not
It is not a cyclone. The IMD's scale runs from low pressure area to depression to deep depression, and only above that does a system become a cyclonic storm.
