Pacific Foreign Ministers push stronger nuclear language after China missile test
Fiji, Aug. 13 -- Pacific Islands Forum Foreign Ministers will push for stronger language on nuclear issues in the 2026 Forum Leaders' communique, with the move coming in the wake of China's ballistic missile test into the Pacific in July and growing global nuclear risks.
Ministers welcomed the intention of Forum Members to develop stronger language on nuclear issues in the 2026 Leaders' Communique, as progress on international nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation remains stalled.
The Ministers also addressed recent missile testing in the region and called for a collective regional response based on solidarity and consensus-based decision-making.
