Fiji, Sept. 15 -- Bougainville President Ishmael Toroama has assured companies, investors and development partners operating in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville that their personnel, operations and assets will be protected following an attack at the Lloyds Metals camp in Panguna.

Toroama described the incident as an isolated act of violence by individuals seeking to undermine the Autonomous Bougainville Government's efforts to advance the redevelopment of the Panguna Mine and the region's broader economic development agenda.

"I want to make it absolutely clear that the actions of a few individuals do not represent the government and people of Bougainville," Toroama said in a statement.
