Youth killed in tusker attack, villagers stage protest with body on road in Deogarh
Bhubaneswar, June 11 -- A tense situation prevailed in Deogarh district's Sangapasi village on Thursday as villagers refused to allow the removal of the body of a youth who was killed in an elephant attack on Wednesday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Sushant Nayak, a resident of Jagannathpur in Angul district. He had reportedly come to Sangapasi village for some work when the incident occurred between 5.30 pm and 6 pm on Wednesday.
According to eyewitnesses, Sushant had briefly stepped out of a vehicle when a tusker suddenly appeared. The elephant allegedly knocked him to the ground and repeatedly attacked him, killing him on the spot.
