Bhubaneswar, March 18 -- A youth was brutally assaulted in the middle of a busy road in Odisha's Berhampur on Tuesday evening, intensifying concerns over a recent surge in gang-related violence in the city.

The incident is part of a series of violent episodes reported in recent days, including attacks on a lawyer, assaults on youths, and repeated clashes, indicating a worrying rise in criminal activity.

The latest attack took place near Subarao Square, where a youth identified as Dinesh Panda was chased by a group of assailants and severely beaten. The attackers also used a sharp weapon, reportedly a sword, during the assault.
