Bhubaneswar, Aug. 9 -- The World Tribal Day celebrations brought the spotlight on Odisha's Dongria Kondh community in Rayagada district, where many families still struggle for access to education, government schemes, healthcare and basic amenities despite their rich cultural heritage.

The Day was celebrated on Sunday with grandeur at GCD ground in Rayagada town, with thousands of people from tribal communities across the district participating in the event organised by the Zilla Adivasi Mahasangh (district tribal federation).

However, away from the celebrations, the day also highlighted the continuing challenges faced by the Dongria Kondh community living in the remote hill areas of Rayagada.
