World Environment Day: Conservation efforts offer hope amid rising pollution concerns in Odisha
Bhubaneswar, June 5 -- On World Environment Day, observed worldwide on June 5, concerns over rising pollution and environmental degradation continue to grow.
In Odisha's port town of Paradip, residents are facing major air, water and soil pollution problems, as they claim that industrial waste and dust emissions are affecting both public health and the local ecosystem. It is being alleged that the entire town is covered with coal dust, iron ore dust and gypsum powder.
Locals reported recurring fish deaths and hundreds of people suffering from cancer, asthma and skin diseases. Meanwhile, The Regional Officer of the State Pollution Control Board stated that environmental parameters are being monitored in real time.
