Bhubaneswar, March 4 -- A woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband inBhubaneswar on Tuesday night, ahead of Holi celebrations. The incident took place in the middle of a road after the injured woman reportedly ran out of her house seeking help.

The deceased has been identified as Sabitri Mallik of Phuleswari Basti. Bharatpur police have detained the accused husband, Purnachandra Mallik, and launched an investigation into the incident.

According to reports, the couple was preparing dinner when the incident occurred between 09:30 pm and 10:00 pm. Purnachandra was reportedly chopping vegetables when the two suddenly engaged in an argument. The altercation allegedly escalated, following which he stabbed his wife.
