Bhubaneswar, May 29 -- A woman forest guard and other forest personnel were allegedly surrounded by local residents during a raid against illegal soil extraction in Nilagiri area of Balasore district on Thursday night, triggering tension at the spot.

The incident was reported from Dhobasila area under the Nilagiri Forest Division, where forest officials had conducted a raid following allegations of illegal soil and stone transportation from forest land.

Woman forest guard Babismita Sahu and a forester reportedly reached the spot after receiving instructions from senior officials. However, upon arrival, they allegedly found more than 100 people already gathered at the site.
