When ambulance couldn't come, a door became a lifeline for pregnant woman in Bhadrak
Bhubaneswar, Aug. 26 -- A pregnant woman in Odisha's Bhadrak district had to be taken to hospital on a door after floodwater cut off her village and an ambulance could not reach her.
The incident took place in Dadhibamanpur Pal village under Jagannath Prasad panchayat in Basudevpur block. The Mantei river is in spate, leaving several areas in the region waterlogged.
Pujarani Mallick, wife of Parshuram Mallick, developed labour pain while the village remained surrounded by floodwater. With no ambulance able to reach their home, her family removed a door and used it as a makeshift raft to take her to the Basudevpur Community Health Centre.
