Bhubaneswar, March 26 -- Amid the ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States, India is witnessing a growing shortage of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), triggering concern among households across the country. With supply chains disrupted due to the crisis in West Asia, consumers are rushing to book cylinders in higher numbers than usual, making it difficult for distributors to ensure timely delivery.
The situation has been further aggravated by disruptions in maritime movement through the Strait of Hormuz, a key route that accounts for nearly 60 per cent of India's LPG imports. The supply crunch has prompted the government to explore alternative sources and fuels to stabilise availability.
