Bhubaneswar, Aug. 27 -- A giant snake was rescued from Dahaka Bandha Sahi in Chikiti area of Ganjam district in Odisha on Thursday. It was reportedly a nine-foot-long king cobra.

According to reports, the king cobra had swallowed a snake and was unable to move away from the spot soon after. Local residents noticed the snake and informed the Forest Department.

Members of the Snake Helpline and a team from the Forest Department reached the spot and carefully rescued the snake from the spot.

The rescue operation was carried out without any reported injury to the residents or the rescuers. After the rescue, the snake was taken away from the residential area and later safely released into the forest.
