Bhubaneswar, April 22 -- In a major breakthrough, cyber police busted a fraud racket that targeted unsuspecting citizens under the pretext of fake RTO e-challans, arresting four accused involved in a scam worth nearly Rs 7 lakh, police sources said on Wednesday.
The four arrested cybercriminals are Md Abbas, Mukesh Turi, Md Amir and Md Salman.
The gang has allegedly duped several persons by sending fraudulent links to their mobile phones, falsely claiming that traffic fines had been issued against them.
According to the official sources, the accused would send messages stating that a challan had been generated in the recipient's name. The message included a link prompting users to pay the fine immediately to avoid further penalties. Ho...
