Bhubaneswar, Sept. 21 -- Two women reportedly died after being hit by a train near Basta railway station in Balasore district of Odisha on Monday. Their identities are yet to be ascertained.

Police reached the spot after the incident and launched an investigation. Railway employees and concerned officials also arrived at the site and began examining the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

The exact cause of the incident remains unclear. It has not yet been established whether the women were accidentally hit by the train or whether there were other circumstances involved. Police are investigating the matter.

The bodies of the two women were reportedly recovered from the spot and will be sent for the necessary legal procedures.
