Bhubaneswar, April 3 -- Two persons were arrested in connection with an alleged financial fraud of Rs 3.67 crore in the Excise Department in Sambalpur on Friday.

Police seized cash and froze bank accounts as part of the investigation.

According to information, the alleged fraud was detected during an audit, which revealed financial irregularities in funds issued in the name of ASI Dehuri. 

The misappropriation reportedly took place between November 2022 and January 2025.

A complaint in this regard was lodged on March 9, 2026 at Ainthapali police station by the Deputy Commissioner of the Excise Department.
