Bhubaneswar, June 17 -- A truck carrying rice plunged into a river after losing control near Bangam on National Highway-326 connecting Malkangiri and Jeypore on Wednesday.

The vehicle, which was transporting rice to the FCI godown in Jeypore, overturned beneath a bridge after the accident. The driver was rescued safely and sustained only minor injuries. However, the entire consignment of rice sacks loaded on the truck was destroyed.

According to reports, the truck was carrying around 500 sacks of rice when it lost balance near Bangam and fell into the river.
