Bhubaneswar, June 6 -- An accident was averted in Odisha's Keonjhar district after a trailer rammed into a private bus from behind on Saturday, after a safety barricade installed along the roadside prevented the vehicle from plunging.

The incident occurred beneath the Kalapahad-Lahanda Railway Overbridge on National Highway 520.

The bus, identified as 'Mandar Malini', was travelling from Bolani towards Turumunga when it was hit by the trailer. Following the collision, the bus reportedly lost control and veered towards the edge of the road.

According to local residents, a safety barricade installed along the roadside prevented the vehicle from plunging into the Suna River below.
