Bhubaneswar, April 27 -- A minor girl's marriage ceremony was called off in Bhubaneswar after timely intervention by authorities on Sunday, following a raid based on specific information received by a social organisation.

The incident came to light after members of the Ruchika Social Service Organisation received inputs about a child marriage being conducted in Bhubaneswar. Acting on the tip-off, the team carried out a raid at the location.

They reached near Sai Temple in the Chakeisiani area, where preparations were underway for the marriage of a minor girl from the locality with a 24-year-old youth from Nayagarh. Upon verification, the organisation alerted the concerned authorities.
