Bhubaneswar, June 28 -- The Regional Meteorological Centre of IMD in Bhubaneswar issued a thunderstorm alert for the upcoming week across Odisha on Sunday, along with an Orange Warning for 16 districts.

The weather office warned that several parts of the state are likely to experience thunderstorms accompanied by wind speeds of 40 to 50 kmph.

According to the forecast, the 16 districts that are placed under the orange warning are Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati and Ganjam.

Heavy rainfall is likely in Kandhamal, Koraput and Rayagada, according to the forecast.
