Bhubaneswar, Sept. 2 -- Nearly four years after a woman was brutally killed at Madhurajholi village in Odisha's Ganjam's Kabisuryanagar area, a Kodala Sessions Court on Tuesday, acquitted 45 people accused in the case. The court's decision came after the prosecution failed to produce sufficient evidence and witnesses to establish their involvement in the October 26, 2022 murder.

The woman was allegedly killed inside her house after being suspected of witchcraft. Her husband had lodged the complaint at Kabisuryanagar police station, following which 49 people were named in the case. The accused included several women. Those arrested had spent around one-and-a-half years in jail before getting bail from the Court.
