Bhubaneswar, April 20 -- Illegal sand mining in Odisha's Jajpur district came under renewed scrutiny following a series of incidents, including an alleged attempt to murder a Tehsildar during an enforcement operation. This prompted swift action by police and the administration.

In Korei, 10 persons were arrested in connection with the alleged attempt to run over a tehsildar with a tractor while he was on duty. 

The accused, currently in custody at Korei police station, include the tractor driver, JCB operators and landowners. Police also seized two JCB machines and seven tractors allegedly used for illegal soil excavation.
