Teachers take to Bhubaneswar streets on Teachers' Day; press for grants, pension and jobs
Bhubaneswar, Sept. 5 -- Teachers and education sector employees took to the streets of Bhubaneswar on Teachers' Day as their indefinite protest at Lower PMG Square enters its 21st day. Today, they staged protest near Gandhi Marg in the city.
Teachers, women educators and other education employees, under the aegis of Odisha School and College Teachers and Employees Coordination Committee, left their schools and continued their sit-in, even spending the nights at the protest site.
As per reports, one of their main demands is the immediate provision of grants to 194 and other schools that have remained deprived of grants despite providing continuous education for 25 to 30 years.
