Bhubaneswar, Sept. 30 -- Tension prevailed in Odisha's Kendrapara after a teacher was detained on Tuesday over allegations of misconduct with a minor girl student in the Derabish area. The incident reportedly triggered anger among local residents, who surrounded the school and demanded action against the accused.

The villagers reportedly caught the accused teacher and handed him over to the police. They also locked the accused teacher, along with other teachers, inside a classroom, while agitated locals surrounded the school from all sides.

A women's committee staged a protest demanding strict punishment in connection with the incident. An unpleasant situation reportedly arose in front of the police station during the demonstration.
