Bhubaneswar, April 23 -- Voting for the single-phase Tamil Nadu elections and the first phase of West Bengal elections began on Thursday amid tight security. The voting will conclude at 6 pm in both states today.

All 234 constituencies in Tamil Nadu and 152 of the total 294 constituencies in West Bengal are going to the polls today. 

The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections are being held in a single phase today, while West Bengal will witness two phases of polling in the Assembly elections 2026, with the second phase scheduled to take place on April 29. The counting of votes is scheduled for May 4.
