Talcher-Bimalagarh railway project in Odisha gets Rs 950 crore boost; 756 hectares of land acquired
Bhubaneswar, Aug. 8 -- Bimalagarh Railway Project is progressing steadily, with Rs 950 crore allocated for the project during 2026-27, Odisha MP Dilip Ray said in a social media post following discussions in the Rajya Sabha.
Ray said he raised the project in Parliament and sought a detailed statement from the Railway Minister on its progress, funding, land acquisition and implementation.
The 150-km Talcher-Bimalagarh railway line was sanctioned in the 2003-04 Railway Budget at an estimated cost of Rs 727 crore. Its updated project cost now stands at Rs 3,390 crore, while Rs 1,901 crore has already been spent up to March 2026.
